Does the soul exist prior to birth?

Wivine's Commentary:

Almost three months ago, I was made to understand that I needed to delve deeper into everything related to ‘Mind’. This included current religious and scientific perspectives on the subject, as well as the moral and ethical codes governing what is acceptable or not in society, with its notions of good and evil. It also included belief in a good and merciful God and the love of one's fellowmen that stems from it.

I ended up asking myself the right questions, the ones that get answers.

I wondered if God still creates new souls, or if they were all already created in his mind? Does every child who is born receive a new soul? When you listen to proponents of reincarnation, you sometimes get the impression that only old souls live on Earth. It gives the impression that our planet is just a rehabilitation center.

What about original sin and infant baptism, which the Vatican talks about? According to them, without this "baptism," human souls can never reach Paradise? Yet, baptism is no guarantee of this.

Then I came across Saint Augustine of Hippo (November 13, 354 – August 28, 430), who asserted that the soul, endowed with the faculty of "I am," was created by God immediately after conception, that is, at the moment of fertilization of the ovum. It is the advent of the soul that also breathes life into the fertilized ovum. This assertion gained popularity within the Roman Catholic Church over the centuries, until it was proclaimed dogma several centuries after his death.

Although he later declared privately that he didn’t know, it was too late. The damage was done, and the information was already in one of his three works, which were still read at least until the end of the 20th century. He was an inspired man of Algerian origin, a Roman citizen who converted to Christianity during his studies in Rome. Islam did not yet exist, but he experienced other ancient religions of his time. He reflected deeply on certain theological and moral subjects at a time when such ideas could still be freely expressed. Moreover, he was not alone in his philosophical pursuits. Others at the time believed that the soul was hereditary, or rather, that it was passed down to children by their parents.

This meant that, for him, the soul did not pre-exist. God created it only at conception. And within this soul, the personality with its "I Am," was woven.

Years ago, I embarked on the idea of an "embryonic soul" that humans receive from God and that develops throughout our material live. Then, after death, it develops on the morontial worlds, then on the spiritual worlds, eventually arriving in Paradise before God as a fully perfected spiritual creature in God's image. I felt something was amiss with this explanation about the embryonic soul. When I asked about it, I was told it would come later, that I should focus on the development of the soul and use The Urantia Book as a basis, of which they would give me a brief summary (late 2010). I never looked into it further. But now, it seemed important.

The next decisive discovery was the "Cambrian explosion," mentioned by a professor of microbiology at the University of Cambridge (UK) in an interview, in connection with genetic codes.

Two points in what he said caught my attention:

1) When we observe information, especially in digital or typographic form, and trace it back to its source, we always think of a process of reflection, not a material process.

2) The discovery of the predominance of (genetic) information in life, the discovery of enormous flows of information throughout the history of life, such as during the Cambrian explosion, suggests that an intelligent design played a role in the history of life.

Cambrian explosion: Fossil data and theoretical considerations indicate a sudden event that occurred approximately 500 million years ago, lasting between 5 and 40 million years, during which most of the living phyla and classes of Eumetazoans, and some extinct phyla and classes, emerged almost simultaneously. It all began with individual cells or small multicellular organisms, sometimes organized into colonies. This led to the emergence of the plant and animal kingdoms, and ultimately to the appearance of modern humans. This evolution is thought to have occurred suddenly and in a very short period of time.

The scientific fields in which some researchers observe or suspect the existence of thought processes, mental and psychological processes, and memory outside the human brain include neurobiology, microbiology, genetics, quantum physics, and neuroscience. For now, these are merely suppositions that requires further research.

This hypothesis naturally provokes opposition, as it directly contradicts the proponents of Darwinism, neo-Darwinism, and the theory of evolution. These proponents assume that everything related to the mind and learning processes takes place in the brain. Evolution, they argue, is the result of chance and genetic mutations.

Melchizedek : My dear children, I greet you. We, the Order of Melchizedeks, continue to watch over your world. However, we will no longer share our names when we contact you, as it will often be others, and we are too numerous.

My children, there are indeed some points or areas of confusion that require clarification.

The soul does not pre-exist.

It develops within man. God does not create the soul; humans create it. Certainly with divine guidance, but not through divine intervention, in order to respect your free will. Humans must freely choose the path to God and being benevolent toward their fellowmen. Not through coercion or to gain advantages, but through love.

What does a human receive from God, the Omniscient and Loving Creator, to start its spiritual ascension?

A unique "Personality."

The Universal Father in Heaven is not a perfect human being. He is entirely immaterial, super-intelligent, and super-loving. God is pure Love, pure Spirit, pure Energy. From the First Source and Center arose the Trinity, enabling the easy creation of all the Higher Spiritual Beings, who, in turn, created other spiritual beings to create and populate the seven Superuniverses.

The seven Master Spirits residing in Havona created the seven Superuniverses with their 100,000 local universes, within which the material planets eventually appeared, where human life could manifest.

For the Creatures of Paradise and Havona, originating from the Trinity, the Superuniverses are the beginning of material life. Even the Creatures who inhabit the Spiritual worlds within the Superuniverses are of a more material nature than those of the perfect worlds of Havona that orbit around Paradise Island.

A Superuniverse comprises three types of regions containing planets or worlds.

- The spiritual worlds, with their Spiritual Creatures, are composed of spiritual energy. The beings and planets that exist there are spiritual, therefore impalpable and invisible to you. These Creatures, created by divine thought from spiritual energy, are endowed with a cosmic mind. God also grants them a personality with free will, proportional to their status.

All types of 'personalities' remain connected to God, to the Source from which they originate. There is always communication between them. It is Paradise, and diminishes in intensity as one descends the scale to humanity.

- The local universes, with their celestial worlds and creatures made of morontia energy with a morontia mind of varying degrees, have all received a Personality with free will corresponding to their status. This is an intermediate stage between the spiritual worlds and the physical worlds. Here are located the Seven Mansion Worlds, which serve to perfect human souls arriving from the material worlds. When a person dies on Earth, they leave behind their physical body with its mortal mind. When they arrive in the First Mansion World, they receive a morontia body with a morontia mind for beginners. Each time they pass from one Mansion world to another, they receive a new morontia body with a suitable morontia mind.

It is in the Seven Mansion Worlds that a human soul continues its spiritual evolution. It is there that it learns what it did not learn during its earthly life, whatever the reason. It is there that it will resolve its bad karma, as you say. There and nowhere else. We have psychological techniques for this.

Everything you learn in these Seven Mansion Worlds, you can learn on Earth in a short period of time. If you so desire! And much more!

Material worlds originate within the local universe. The universe energies that create matter are therefore material to us, immaterial to you because its invisible to the naked eye. It is in the material worlds that humanity first manifests.

Biological life was created and implanted directly on Earth by the Life Carriers. It evolved from a cellular organism into a physical body upon which a mortal human mind, capable of wisdom and worship of the divine, could anchor itself and function. Capable of receiving a personality of the human type, endowed with free will, from God after birth that can express itself.

Personality comes from God.

It all begins with the creation of a physical body, upon which a human mind can function, capable of bearing a human ‘personality.’ Personality does not have a body, although it needs an adapted one to express itself, function, act, and develop spiritually. The Universal Father, beyond being an omniscient mind, as your great mathematicians suspect, is first and foremost a ‘Personality’.

By bestowing Personality upon humanity, He can be known to humanity, and humanity can enter into a relationship with Him. He can establish contact because your ‘personality’ remains connected to Him through His personal communication circuits. This is important for newborns and toddlers who have not yet received an indwelling God Fragment.

Now imagine God as an infinitely undulating field of pure consciousness, of pure love, where neither time nor space exists, where everything is possible. Where a state of absolute bliss reigns, where everything is simultaneously still and yet moves in waves, as in a conscious energy field. An energy field of infinite creative possibilities that allows the Universal Father to express Himself through millions of creatures. It is in this divine place that you, as a "unique human personality," were conceived by divine intention, as a single thought, expressed in a subtle form of Light and Pure Love, in an environment of profound peace.

It is there that your "unique Personality" was born as a thought a very long time ago. A divine intention in a primordial form that has yet to unfold. Like a seed that contains within it all that will one day make you a conscious, glorified, and divinized being. It contains your entire capacity to love, to create, to overcome difficulties, to transform all painful experiences into wisdom. It holds your capacity for compassion, your moral strength, your spiritual sensitivity.

This subtle and purely spiritual "personality" can be compared to a seed, a seed of eternal life. It never dies, never disintegrates, but can be transformed from the moment God entrusts it to a human body. It contains your noblest qualities, your greatest talents, your capacity for unconditional love.

With this unique personality also comes ‘will’. Not just any will: free will. You have the right to choose, to experience, to live as a whole person. You create your own identity, and then the ego emerges. You realize that there is you and others, and that others are different. They have a different appearance, each with their own character. One is gentle, another more aggressive. You find yourself in a social environment governed by rules, codes of conduct concerning what is right and wrong. Religious beliefs that refer to God and other philosophical beliefs that do not, or even people who recognize only material life. What to believe? Whom to follow?

The "personality" that emanates from God needs a physical body to express itself. The creation of such a body, endowed with a human mind capable of venerating God and attaining Wisdom, does indeed occur through natural evolution.

The geneticists, or Life-Carriers, of your local universe begin by implanting on Earth a germplasm containing all the coded potentials (genes) necessary to develop a human body from a single-celled organism, capable of housing a human personality endowed with free will and self-awareness—the identification of "I AM."

The blueprints for this germplasm, with all its genetic codes, are designed in the laboratories of your local universe, Nebadon. It is designed on inanimate matter and, in the case of Earth, developed and implanted here, in shallow tropical seawater basins.

Only when the design is complete LIFE is breathed into it. Our geneticists can provide the ‘Vital Spark,’ or mystery of life -but it doesn’t originate from them. It comes from the Mother Spirit of Nebadon. And that’s not all she transmits. She also gives :

- a mind that begins with the simple cognitive (intelligent) properties of a single-celled organism, which then evolves into an organism with a central nervous system and a brain capable of processing increasingly complex cognitive/intelligent properties. These are the mammals from which the human body originates. As well as:

- The ability to reproduce, as in mammals and humans.

Such a living and functional human body will, after birth, or at the latest during the first year of life, draw its “unique personality endowed with free will” toward itself.

Since God maintains contact with each bestowed "personality," this baby, growing under the Father's influence, will one day be able to make a moral decision that will mark the arrival of an indwelling God Fragment or Thought Adjuster.

By moral decision, we mean an act, a thought or reaction of love, compassion, or affection; sharing food or toys; wanting to comfort a sibling; showing kindness to others—in short, an act or good thought that springs spontaneously from the heart.

It is only with the arrival, between the ages of 3 to 5, of a God Fragment or Thought Adjuster that this "personality," this "I am," can begin to create a soul through its freely chosen actions, thoughts, and feelings of love. Nothing is required; everything is possible. Their Thought Adjuster will then translate all thoughts, motivations, and actions of spiritual value into a spiritual form, leading to the emergence of an embryonic soul.

You can compare its development to that of a human embryo, progressing through the fetal stage to that of a fully realized soul, taking the form of a morontia baby already on Earth. This soul, born on Earth in a human body, then acquires a morontia body and mind. This new born morontia soul can then continue to develop within the human body, and might even become a high-ranking, fully realized Morontia Being. Such a soul can, upon its death, immediately fuse with its God Fragment upon arrival on the First Mansion World and continue its ascension.

The physical body has a limited lifespan; when this lifespan is exhausted, the physical body dies. The human mind, whose functioning is closely linked to the nervous system and the brain, then loses all support and disappears. This is why we call it a "mortal mind."

The soul then becomes the second vehicle, this time endowed with a morontia body and mind that will serve the spiritual development of this "unique personality" on the morontia worlds.

Few humans currently achieve this on Earth. Most people receive such a morontia body and mind only upon their arrival in the first Mansion World, after their death.

This is why Buddha, Jesus, and so many other sages have always preferred to emphasize the development and eternal survival of the soul.

Jesus never said that the soul came from God; he always emphasized its development during human life. Nor does The Urantia Book say that the "soul" is given to humanity by God.

All of them affirm that one must develop one's soul by cultivating loving acts and thoughts to attain eternal life.

What one receives from God is what The Urantia Book calls the

1) the "personality with its free will," and

2) then the indwelling Thought Adjuster.

This "personality" never perishes because it comes directly from God. But it needs a body to unfold. Since the physical body eventually dies, you are required to create a soul that will become the next vehicle for the further unfolding of your personality in the afterlife. If this does not happen, your personality cannot evolve further, for lack of a suitable vehicle. She is then absorbed into the body of God the Supreme, the Supreme Goddess, created by the Trinity, within which all Superuniverses exist.

Every personality that has inhabited a physical body has gained experience and underwent transformations, which are also preserved with the personality. All actions and memories of spiritual value stay with their Thought Adjuster.

We now wish to reassure parents. Babies and young children who died before they received a God Fragment to create an embryonic soul are admitted to the first Mansion World and cared for until one of their parents comes to take charge of their upbringing. If this does not happen, morontia beings will take over. Their development will then be identical to that on Earth. They will also receive a Thought Adjuster after their first moral decision, in order to develop a soul with which they can continue their spiritual journey. They possess also free will and can decide at any time to interrupt their ascension.

What is so special about Earth, about Urantia?

The fact that the "demiurge" resides there, or is held captive, and that you are humans with the potential to fuse with their Thought Adjuster. This is the prerequisite for the blossoming of a soul which will one day, as a nascent spiritual being, able to leave its local universe of Nebadon to embark on the adventure to Paradise. If some souls fail to fuse with their God Fragment—and this is the case on many other material planets—they will fuse with a fragment of the Mother Spirit of Nebadon to become later citizens of Nebadon, capable of eternal life.

Consider your planet as a laboratory experiment. You have a name, a date of birth, unique fingerprints, an identity, and free will.

Earth is one of the most dangerous planets in the physical worlds.

Here, the soul can become completely lost or, in a short time (about 25 years), reach the highest spiritual heights accessible to a human being on a material planet. And that is already a very high level on the scale of a human soul's spiritual evolution in a local universe.

But a single wrongdoing, an uncontrollable negative desire, an overwhelming negative emotion can plunge you into the abyss, far more so than on any other material planet where everything unfolds more serenely.

On the other hand, every moment devoted to the quest for spiritual truth and the practice of selfless acts of love can propel you toward the highest spiritual realms.

Here, your spiritual development is extremely rapid, much faster than on the morontia worlds where thousands of Earth years can pass before your embryonic soul becomes a soul ready to fuse with its indwelling Thought Adjuster, which is an essential condition for reaching Paradise.

Here, a single heartbreak can teach you more than a thousand years in the morontia realms.

Fear, shame, grief, jealousy, and hatred are all sources of suffering. Earth is dangerous because it makes unprecedented levels of self-inflicted suffering possible. One can torture oneself with mere thoughts, fears that will never materialize, regrets of the past, and anxieties about a nonexistent future. One can shut oneself away without walls, punish oneself without committing crimes, and suffer without being harmed.

No other world offers such a level of psychological freedom or psychological danger. Only Earth allows the ego to strengthen with such intensity that it can completely eclipse the embryonic soul.

Here, you can make clear choices between good and evil, learning through experience to soften your ego and negative feelings.

On morontia worlds, spiritual development is much easier; everything is gentler and more benevolent, but it is consequently much longer. Failure is truly rare.

On Earth, you have the choice to awaken spiritually or remain asleep. You choose whether pain breaks you or liberates you. It is a world of confusion and contradictions.

On the other hand, you can achieve a fully superhuman awakening in a short lifetime. You can attain a soul level that allows you to fuse with your God Fragment immediately upon arrival on the first Mansion World.

Here is where the training of future cosmic leaders begins, the future Creative Sons and Daughters of human origin who will rule the worlds currently forming in the four outer bands that revolve around the seven Superuniverses in a distant future.

Your eternal life, thanks to the development of your soul, does not end here. It begins here.

What you have not accomplished here, you will develop further on the seven celestial Mansion Worlds, as a beginning or a more elaborate initiation. Then you will continue your journey through the many morontia worlds. There, everything is more pleasant and gentler, but time is immensely long.

Next comes the turn of the spiritual worlds of the Superuniverse and finally Havona and Paradise. You will not arrive as a soul in Paradise, but as a glorified creature, divinized in the image of God.

There is no reason to allow an embryonic soul to return to Earth to develop further, at the risk of being completely lost. It serves no purpose. Everything is arranged to allow souls to develop here, in the celestial realms Jesus spoke of.

Reincarnation is an old, deeply rooted superstition that has taken many forms. It often prevents people from developing spiritually, from reaching the highest peaks here on Earth. Why do today what you can do tomorrow? Isn't it? Or even worse: believing that one has reached the goal, that there is no more work to be done on oneself.

Regarding original sin, which every child inherits and for which they should be baptized:

First and foremost, Adam and Eve were not the first human beings on Earth. They had a mission to accomplish according to certain rules. They were immortal. At some point, they made an error in judgment, which contributed to terminate their mission: the uplifting of human genetics. They never turned against God the Father. Never against Christ. They were fully rehabilitated after their arrival on the morontia worlds.

Baby baptism was not common in Jesus' time, nor is it on your world today. It is still a widespread practice, but for adults or teenagers, to mark a turning point in their lives or to seal their entry into a religious community. These people do it knowingly. This is not the case for a baby.

The Vatican instituted it for its own reasons, using original sin as a pretext. Remember that a pope, a cardinal, a bishop, or a priest is a human being, not a god. They are not omniscient; they are ordinary people. They must think and act with the same human mind that each of you possesses. They have physical needs like everyone else. They must also cooperate with their indwelling God Fragment to create a soul and grow spiritually. They encounter the same difficulties as all their believers: the conflict between the reflections of the mortal mind, the needs of the body, and the impulses of the Thought Adjuster who guides them.

The soul is created through the cooperation between your "material mind," with its reasoning, thoughts, and psychic states, and an indwelling God Fragment, of divine origin.

Therefore, we confirm what Jesus said during his earthly life: all children are born innocent.

-the seven the adjutant minds spirits—and the human mind. We will compare this with current scientific terminology and its position. And above all, we will explain why:

-science can be a pillar for a balanced development of the human soul,

-the spiritualization of morality and ethics in human civilizations.

-Finally, we will address the recognition of a God of true love, the desire to be like Him, and the surrender of your destiny into His hands, in good and bad times. Especially in bad times!
